You can open button config from the menu when the game starts in test mode but then you’ll have to guess which button is which attack. The following shows you how to have the game display what button does what so you don’t have to guess. Start the game with the TEST GAME button in Fightcade, then click the Start Game button.
Once the game has loaded, press the Tab key to pause the game Then press the Settings button. This only works offline. In online matches, the Tab key opens chat and does not pause the game.
Then you select the Controls tab. I’d recommend you click the Make Game Config button at the bottom first to ensure your other flycast game controls aren’t affected by this config. Find your device or keyboard in that menu. Click the Map button for your device.
There’s a dropdown menu in the top right of the screen. Change it from Dreamcast Controls to Arcade Controls.
The buttons section will now show what each button does. Map your controls.
When you have your inputs set, press the Done button in the top left to save your settings. You can now close the program.
How do I get past Starting Network?
I don’t have this problem with players close but constantly with those far away. Trying again and switching who challenges seems to help. Most the time, there isn’t a problem with firewalls or ports so retry a few times before digging into that. If that doesn’t work, make sure your operating systems firewall is not blocking flycast. If nothing works, see the other FAQS about port forwarding any fightcade, flycast and ggpo ports.
How do I make this run better?
Close heavy background programs. Web browsers with modern websites open are often the worst. Steam and discord are heavy for what they do.
Select a frame or two more input delay when the game starts to compensate for poor performance. You may not need to do this if the following options work for you.
I get much better performance for 3D Flycast games with the Vulkan graphics API setting. Some reported better performance by setting the graphics API to DirectX (DX11 was default for me). Linux users will probably get better performance from Vulkan than from OpenGL.
Set your processor affinity higher for the program with the task manager. For Linux and Mac users, decrease your nice values for Flycast to increase processor priority. This needs to be done everytime the program is run so it is inconvenient.
Youtuber VampireMachine made a video guide. All of it is useful for reducing latency for games on Windows in general but comes at the cost of more power usage and, for some, system instability.
In the Nvidia Control Panel select Flycast.exe for program-specific settings. Then set the Low Latency Mode dropdown to Ultra and the “Power management mode” to “Prefer maximum performance” and click Apply. AMD controls have similar options in different places. With their Adrenaline software, you can go to the settings (gear icon top right), then the Graphics tab and set the Esports profile for lowest latency and highest performance settings.
Second part applies to all Windows 10 users. From your Fightcade2 install, open the “emulator” then the “flycast” folder. Right click flycast.exe and Open the Compatibility tab. Click the “Disable fullscreen Optimazations” checkmark and press OK.
I’ve never heard of this program before but he recommends disabling Radmin VPN because it causes performance problems.
He doesn’t give you a warning for these two steps but setting maximum performance (and High performance) in power settings will make your computer use more power and run at full clock speed all the time. You can turn it on for games and back to balanced or power saver for more reasonable power usage. If you’re using a laptop the high performance profiles will make a big difference for your battery life and you may not have enough cooling, which will reduce your CPUs lifespan. Disabling dynamic tick will make your system read information from your mouse, keyboard, and other peripherals more often. Some report that it makes overall performance much worse and needed to be removed (see link below). If you’re comfortable with one or both, open the command prompt and ctrl-c ctrl-v and run your choice of the commands below. Set the power profiles from the old Control Panel, not the new Windows settings app.
A VPN will not reduce lag in most cases. If the VPN node is close to your opponent, your ping will be effectively lying to you about how much better the connection will be as it doesn’t account for the connection between you and the VPN. You don’t care about that number but you care a lot about how long it takes for packets to travel between you and your opponent. You’re adding at least one extra stop and making the trip less direct with most VPNs. They have their uses but this isn’t usually one of them.
How do I play Guilty Gear Accent Core?
The Guilty Bits series is for the next version of AC but still an easy way to start. Quick and easy to understand.
The +R Dustloop wiki is really good. It’s for the next version of this game but still more helpful than the Accent Core dustloop.
You can play both the Accent Core and the Accent Core Plus R balance online with GGPO rollback on the steam release of GGXXACPR.
How do I use the training mode in Guilty Gear Accent Core?
The NAOMI arcade version on Fightcade is not a console release but the flycast Start Training mode lets you use save states and input recording and replay (up to 3 slots, random replay available) to get started. By default, those inputs are not mapped so you need to map them before you can use them. Save the state at the beginning of any setup, recording inputs as needed, replay them, then reload the state.
The consele and psp versions have have a good training mode.
The Steam version of Accent Core Plus R has a more full-featured training mode and replay takeover for figuring out how to deal with situations you had in online matches. You can set the balance to AC balance or the +R balance and play the AC balance online.
